PAY LESS
FOR WATER

ATTENTION JOHNSON UTILITIES/EPCOR WATER CUSTOMERS
ARE YOU PAYING TOO MUCH FOR WATER?
Over the past five years, Johnson Utilities customers have paid more than
28 MILLION DOLLARS in unnecessary
and avoidable charges!
Arizona-based water utilities are required to replenish the groundwater they utilize to service
their customers. To achieve this, many investor-owned utilities rely on the Central Arizona
Groundwater Replenishment District, known for short as CAGRD (pronounced “CAG-rid”). The
problem is that the CAGRD charges these utilities a high rate of fees to provide replenishment
services, and the Arizona Corporation Commission (ACC) allows utilities like Johnson to pass on
those fees to YOU, the consumer, 100 percent.
But there is another solution, currently used by all city-owned water utilities in the state, who
have a stronger incentive to keep their monthly rates low.
Johnson Utilities (now EPCOR) could be purchasing alternative water resources at much lower
rates, saving YOU significant money each month...But the ACC has given them no incentive to
do so. Estimates are that this simple change could save Johnson Utilities customers more than
$300,000,000 in combined total over the next 30 years!
